This page explains what data this site collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impenetrable.
What We Collect
Analytics
We use website analytics to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and where they leave. This is aggregate traffic data — page views, referring source, approximate region, device type, time on page. It is not used to identify you individually and we do not attempt to.
Cookies
Cookies may be set for three purposes:
- Analytics cookies — to distinguish one visit from another so page statistics are meaningful.
- Affiliate tracking cookies — set by the retailer, not by us, when you click an outbound link. They tell the retailer the referral came from this site so a commission can be attributed. They typically expire between 24 hours and 30 days.
- Functional cookies — remembering that you dismissed a banner, for example.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking affiliate cookies does not change your price; it only means this site is not credited for a referral.
Information you send us
If you email us, we hold that email and our reply for as long as needed to deal with it. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list without an explicit opt-in.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell personal data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not build advertising profiles of individual readers.
- We do not require an account, and there is nothing on this site to log into.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Third Parties
Some services process data on our behalf or on their own account:
- Our web host, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and diagnostics.
- Our analytics provider, subject to their own privacy policy.
- Affiliate networks and retailers, when you click an outbound link. From that click onward, their privacy policy governs, not ours.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal data we hold about you, request its correction or deletion, object to processing, or opt out of the sale of personal information — which is straightforward here, because we do not sell it. To exercise any of these, email us using the address in the footer.
Data Retention
Analytics data is retained in aggregate. Email correspondence is retained for as long as it is useful for handling the matter and any follow-up, and then deleted.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not collect payment information, store passwords, or hold sensitive personal data, which removes most of the risk surface entirely.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the revision date at the top of this page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
